Dog Lost -- or STOLEN?

The trauma of losing your dog either through theft or straying is probably one of the most traumatic events that could happen. It seems that each day you want to hear someone say "your dog has been run over and killed", then we would know and would be at peace. But to spend each and every day wondering ... is it being used on a puppy farm? has it been sold in a pub for £5? is someone beating or abusing it? .... these questions will go on and on in your mind.

Dog thefts are on the increase. Thankfully, this crime has never happened to me and I have one person to thank for this. I used to leave my dog regularly in my car when parked in and around the city. I never gave it a second thought. It wasn't until Debbie Matthews appeared on TV with her Father, Bruce Forsyth, appealing for her dogs' return -- two lovely terriers that were taken in broad daylight from her car whilst parked. It was then that I realised how thoughtless I had been. I mean, would I leave a lap top on the passenger seat in a parked car --- I don't think so. Since then I have been very vigilant regarding dog theft and my lovely dogess and I are still together because their TV appeal last year made me realise the seriousness and responsibility I owe my dog to look after her.

Debbie thankfully was re-united with Gizmo and Widget but many other dog owners are not so  lucky. Bruce and Debbie then went on to form their Vets Get Scanning Appeal. Their aim is to ask every vet to scan their patients. (All dogs visit a vet at some point). But they can't do this alone. They need your help. Support them and help them get YOU re-united with YOUR dog should anything happen to YOU. Visit their web site at www.vetsgetscanning.co.uk  and sign their on-line petition. Every single vote counts.  Also, this website provides very useful links if your dog has recently been lost or stolen.
